Father's Day Card: Shirt and Tie
Age: 6–9 years · Time: 40 min · Level: Easy–medium
In Sweden, Father's Day is the second Sunday in November. The card is great for Dad, a stepdad, Grandpa or another special grown-up.
Materials
- 1 sheet of heavy paper (A4 or letter size) in any color
- patterned paper, or white paper to decorate
- ruler and pencil
- scissors
- glue stick
- markers
Steps
- Fold the heavy paper in half to make a card. The fold should be on the left.
- Find the middle of the top edge of the front. Cut a 3 cm (about 1 inch) slit straight down there – through the front only.
- Fold the corners on each side of the slit down and outward. Now the shirt has a collar.
- Draw a tie, about 10 cm (4 inches) long, on the patterned paper and cut it out. You can also draw a pattern on white paper.
- Glue the tie so that its top sits just under the collar.
- Draw buttons and a pocket on the shirt.
- Write a message inside, for example: Happy Father's Day! You are the best!
Safety for grown-ups
Be careful with the scissors and always cut away from your fingers. Ask an adult to help with the collar slit.
