Pinecone Mice
Age: 6–9 years · Time: 45 min · Level: Medium
Materials
2 dry pinecones, pink and brown felt or paper, thick string or yarn (6 in per mouse), small pom-poms for noses, white paper (for the eyes), black marker, white craft glue, child-safe scissors.
Steps
- Brush off any dirt and let the pinecones dry indoors for a day.
- Cut two round ears per mouse from felt.
- Glue the ears between the scales near the pointed end.
- Glue a pom-pom at the front as a nose and draw eyes on small paper circles.
- Glue the string to the wide end as a tail and let it dry for an hour.
Safety for grown-ups
Only pick up pinecones from the ground and wash hands afterward. An adult helps with the glue. Pom-poms and eyes are too small for children under 3.
