Friendly Black Cat from a Toilet Paper Roll

Age: 3–5 years · Time: 30 min · Level: Easy

A happy cat for Halloween – cute and not one bit scary!

Friendly Black Cat from a Toilet Paper Roll

Materials

  • 1 empty toilet paper roll
  • black paint and a brush (or black paper and a glue stick)
  • yellow and pink paper
  • white chalk or a white paint pen
  • black marker
  • child-safe scissors with rounded tips
  • glue stick
  • a pencil to curl the tail around

Steps

  1. Paint the roll black, or wrap it in black paper. Let it dry.
  2. Press the top edge of the roll down on the front and on the back, so two pointy ears form.
  3. An adult cuts two yellow circles for eyes and a small pink triangle for the nose.
  4. Draw a black dot in each yellow circle. Glue on the eyes and the nose.
  5. Draw a happy mouth and whiskers with white chalk.
  6. A grown-up cuts a strip of black paper for the tail. Roll it around the pencil to make it curly and glue it to the back.

Safety for grown-ups

An adult handles the scissors and stays close the whole time. Small paper pieces must not go in the mouth. Use non-toxic paint and wear an apron to protect clothes.
